Parna Mehrbani Appointed Chair of Partners in Diversity

PORTLAND, Ore. (August 4, 2020) – Tonkon Torp Partner Parna Mehrbani has been appointed Chair of the Partners in Diversity (PID) Leadership Council. Partners in Diversity is a program of the Portland Business Alliance Charitable Institute. Mehrbani, who served as vice chair from 2019-2020, has also joined the Portland Business Alliance board in a new ex officio seat to serve as the PID Representative.

PID is dedicated to attracting and retaining diverse talent in Oregon and Southwest Washington. The group recently released the results from their Workforce Diversity Retention Project, a year-long scientific study on the experiences and outcomes of people of color at Oregon companies. Although postponed due to the pandemic, PID continues to plan its first NW Equity Summit to bring employers together to learn how to support more diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

“I’m so proud to be working with PID during this pivotal time in our community,” shared Mehrbani. “In addition to implementing initiatives that have come out of our landmark Workforce Diversity Retention Project, our board will be focused on helping PID provide education and resources around racial trauma and the impact of historic racial inequality.”

Mehrbani is Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp's Information Privacy & Security Practice Group, and a partner in its Intellectual Property Practice Group. She has a well-regarded practice that focuses on protecting and enforcing intellectual property. She also has experience advising businesses on the management and security of personal data and the laws that regulate the collection, use, and protection of personal data.
