November Tonkon Talk Focuses on Employment Law

At the “Tonkon Talk” held November 4, Clay Creps, Kristin Bremer Moore, and Blerina Kotori, lawyers from Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment practice group, spoke about employment law issues that start-ups and growing businesses may encounter. The three attorneys discussed how a company can protect itself from risks that arise from restrictive agreements with former employers, compliance with wage-and-hour requirements and risks associated with utilizing independent contractors in the hostile environment created by the Department of Labor and Bureau of Labor and Industries.

The Labor & Employment practice group provides practical solutions to labor and employment problems for a diverse group of Pacific Northwest employers. The firm helps clients manage workforce issues, set rules and standards for employee conduct, protect competitive positions, deal with union activity, and defend against or minimize exposure to employment litigation.

“Tonkon Talks in the Pearl” is a series of lunch-hour presentations hosted by the firm’s Entrepreneurial Services group. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the firm’s CENTRL Office location in the Pearl District. The talks provide an overview on legal topics that impact entrepreneurs and startups.
