Tonkon Torp Hosts “Show Me the Money” Primers for Entrepreneurs

Tonkon Torp’s Entrepreneurial Services practice group recently hosted the final program in its “Show Me the Money” series, designed to help start-up companies understand funding issues in connection with the launch and growth of their businesses.

The event, held at the firm’s downtown Portland office, focused on how to use crowdfunding and other general solicitation tools to raise funds without running afoul of securities laws. Tonkon Torp lawyers Drea Schmidt and Claire Brown discussed crowdfunding from accredited investors and the general public, as well as rewards-based crowdfunding. The two-hour event included a casual reception for participants to network.

The first seminar in the series featured a panel of four experts representing the angel investor community in Oregon. The second seminar featured entrepreneurs who have successfully navigated a business from start-up to exit.

Tonkon Torp’s Entrepreneurial Services practice group works with start-up and fast-growing businesses to help entrepreneurs lay a financial and structural foundation for growth. The group also advises seed, angel, venture, and other investment firms in all aspects of investing.
