Tonkon Torp Presents Energy Innovation Award at Cultivation Classic Conference

Tonkon Torp partnered with the Resource Innovation Institute to present the inaugural Energy Innovation Award at the 2019 Cultivation Classic awards ceremony held on Saturday, May 18 in Portland. The Cultivation Classic is focused on craft cannabis producers in Oregon who adopt regenerative production practices. Tonkon Torp was the first among its peers to embrace Oregon's regulated cannabis industry, and has supported the Resource Innovation Institute and its efforts to promote efficient cultivation practices from its inception.

The Energy Innovation Award is a new addition to the annual Cultivation Classic conference, and was created to spotlight an Oregon cannabis farmer who demonstrates a vision and a practice of hyper-efficient, controlled environment operations for cannabis cultivation, and who has an articulated plan for cutting their energy footprint. Tonkon Torp attorney Alex Tinker was at the event to present the award to Deschutes Growery, and to recognize runner up, Wy’est Gardens.

Tinker is Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Cannabis Industry Practice Group. He represents individuals and companies doing business in the cannabis industry, and advises clients on cannabis laws, regulations, and other cannabis-specific legal issues. Tinker is a founding board member for the Resource Innovation Institute (RII), which works to promote resource efficiency in the cannabis industry.
