Tonkon Talk Guides Startups Through Business Entity Options

At the September 6 Tonkon Talk, business attorney Tyler Harkness gave startups an overview of the entity options available to them as they establish their business.

Stressing the importance of making the right choice in the beginning, Tyler discussed criteria that could help a company to choose between a C-Corp, S-Corp or LLC entity. He also provided insight into why a company might choose to form an entity in Oregon, Delaware, or elsewhere. The talk concluded with advice on how and when to change an entity type should that need arise.

Tyler belongs to the firm's Entrepreneurial Services, Corporate Finance, and Mergers & Acquisitions practice groups. His practice includes advising startup companies and working with established businesses.

"Tonkon Talks in the Pearl" is a series of lunch-hour presentations hosted by Tonkon Torp's Entrepreneurial Services Practice Group. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the firm's CENTRL Office location in the Pearl District. The talks provide an overview on legal topics that impact entrepreneurs and startups.
