Alex Tinker participated in the panel session "How Close Can You Get to Marijuana Without Being Burned?" at the 2017 NW Summit for Financial Professionals, held in Seattle May 10-12. The annual two-and-a-half day conference is designed for all levels of treasury management expertise including Treasury Managers, CFO's, Controllers, Accountants, Lawyers and providers of treasury management services in both practitioner and managerial roles.
Alex appeared on the panel with Matt Anderson from MacArthur Capital LLP, discussing the rapidly changing legal environment in regards to marijuana as states step in to regulate a market that is still prohibited under federal law. Their discussion offered guidelines on how marijuana businesses are supposed to operate in this context and how traditional business can engage with the cannabis industry. The panel gave tips on operational structure as well as an overview of how federal banking and tax law has impacted the cannabis industry.
