Tonkon Talk Charts Due Diligence Road Map

On April 5, business attorney Brenda Meltebeke and guest Eric Boothe, of Elevate Capital Fund and Elevate Inclusive Fund, shared a detailed due diligence road map with entrepreneurs. With Brenda bringing a seasoned legal approach and Eric providing an investor’s perspective, the pair navigated the conversation through key due diligence checkpoints that every startup should prepare for regardless of an investor’s experience. Topics included corporate documentation, securities and shareholder information, corporate finance, contracts and operations, sales and marketing, intellectual property, employment, and other important legal and regulatory information.

Brenda is Co-Chair of the firm’s Entrepreneurial Services practice group. She provides startup and emerging growth clients with business counseling and general corporate legal services. She also works with companies at all stages of growth on corporate formation, governance and dissolution issues, financing, and M&A transactions, as well as on negotiating and documenting various types of contractual arrangements. In addition, she represents several angel funds with respect to their formation, compliance, and portfolio company investments.

“Tonkon Talks in the Pearl” is a series of lunch-hour presentations hosted by the firm’s Entrepreneurial Services Group. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the firm’s CENTRL Office location in the Pearl District. The talks provide an overview on legal topics that impact entrepreneurs and startups.
