Tonkon Torp bankruptcy attorney Albert Kennedy was a panelist at a recent presentation on the precedent-setting Portland Archdiocese bankruptcy cases that were adjudicated in 2007. The event was hosted by the U.S. District Court of Oregon Historical Society.
Kennedy was joined on the panel by Judge Elizabeth Perris and three other attorneys who worked on the complex bankruptcy cases. Kennedy led a team of Tonkon Torp lawyers who represented the Tort Claimants’ Committee in the first-ever bankruptcy filing by a Catholic Archdiocese, in 2004. Ultimately, all claimants were paid in full, with interest, after each claim was individually mediated.
A member of Tonkon Torp’s nationally recognized Bankruptcy & Creditors Rights Practice Group, Kennedy has represented creditors (including financial institutions) and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings, commercial litigation and real estate foreclosures before both federal and state courts. He has been honored by Super Lawyer, Best Lawyers in America, and the Turnaround Management Association.
