Amanda is a paralegal in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department and Labor & Employment Group. She assists the firm’s attorneys with document management, and discovery collection and productions, as well as providing general arbitration and trial support. Amanda also handles garnishment related matters for a variety of clients.
Amanda previously worked at a Portland plaintiff’s personal injury firm and has over 20 years of experience in personal injury litigation and insurance claims, case management, and appellate law. She was a staff member (and Co-Chair from 2013 – 2015) of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and served as co-coordinator for the Classroom Law Project’s Fall MiniMock scrimmage from 2010 – 2014. In 2023, Amanda obtained a Reviewer Product Certification from Everlaw.
From 2012 through mid-2019, Amanda worked in her local community to address humanitarian issues in Eastern Congo, serving for three years as a Volunteer Ambassador for Women for Women International. In this role, she worked closely with the City of Portland Procurement and Tech Services Bureaus to craft a resolution for the City of Portland regarding purchasing practices for electronics products containing minerals sourced from Eastern Congo. Amanda also worked with a group of local nonprofit organizers and Oregon legislators to present Senate Bill 471 which was signed into law on June 7, 2019 and addressed the state-level procurement of products containing minerals sourced from Eastern Congo. Improved procurement policies help the people of the Eastern Congo by encouraging companies to keep their sourcing supply chains transparent, making it more difficult for militia-controlled mines to effectively function. Procurement legislation has impacted Eastern Congo’s mining sector for the better – as of 2019, 70% of Eastern Congo’s 3T mines are now conflict free.
When Amanda is not working or advocating for humanitarian issues, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, and taking photos. She offers additional support to Tonkon Torp by serving on its Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Steering Committee and participating in its Allies Caucus.
