Tonkon Torp Lawyers Tapped for “Best of CLE” Conference Presenters

Attorneys Craig Foster, Andrea Schmidt, and Michael Millender have been selected to present seminars at the annual “Best of CLE” conference for continuing legal education in Portland. The November conference draws from among the city’s legal experts to present one-hour workshops on Oregon law.

Foster will speak on how the JOBS Act (the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act) affects the Securities Act of 1933. Foster is a member of the Corporate Finance, Financial Services, and Information Privacy & Security practice groups at Tonkon Torp. He focuses on mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, corporate finance, data security, and advising on federal and state securities laws and the regulatory needs of financial service providers.

Schmidt will cover the JOBS Act’s impacts on the Securities Act of 1934. She practices in the firm’s Business Department, where her practice emphasizes securities, corporate governance and general corporate matters. She has experience in business formation for limited liability companies, advising on state and federal securities laws and SEC reporting and disclosure matters.

Millender will discuss State Tax in the Digital Age. A member of Tonkon Torp’s Taxation Practice Group, Millender’s practice emphasizes federal, state and local tax impacts on business transactions, including taxation of corporations, partnerships and LLCs as well as personal investments. He also advises clients on employee benefits issues involving retirement plans, equity-based plans and fringe benefit plans.
