Legal Support for Multiple Generations of the McCall Family

Oregon, USA.

The McCall family and their affiliated businesses have been a leading provider of asphalt, biofuels, renewables, and other essential energy products to the Northwest for over 80 years. Today, the company operates under the banners of McCall Asphalt Services and McCall Renewable Fuels which reflects its core product offerings. Tonkon Torp has supported three generations of the McCall family and their affiliated businesses, beginning with family patriarch Calder McCall, who was represented by founding partners Moe Tonkon and Morris Galen.

Tonkon Torp has provided the McCall businesses with a full range of legal services to help the family enterprises survive and grow (from their roots in home and agriculture fuel supply) into a leading and progressive provider of petroleum and energy products vital to regional infrastructure. Calder’s son Bob, and continuing with his grandsons, Ted and Ned McCall, lead the family businesses with support from Tonkon Torp attorneys including Max Miller (environmental), Jeff Keeney (real estate and land use), Jeff Cronn (corporate and investment matters), Michael Millender (corporate and business operations), and John Rosenfeld (estate planning).

One key area in which Tonkon Torp supports the McCall family is in their land stewardship, which includes ongoing assessments of the environmental health of legacy and industrial properties and related improvements to their properties in the state and region. Tonkon also helps the family manage its business and personal real estate portfolio. This work includes bringing new life to iconic Portland buildings, such as the former Duniway Park YMCA building – now Under Armour’s state of the art global innovation hub. Tonkon Torp also supports the McCall entities’ management of long-term lease holdings for their properties along the West Coast.

The success of the current and historic relationship between Tonkon Torp and the McCalls has been made possible by an alignment of perspective and values including a long term commitment to community contribution.
