On Sept 1, 1978, Carol Hibbs was hired as attorney #18 and became the first woman attorney at Tonkon Torp. In the mid-70s, women were breaking glass ceilings in professions of all kinds. Carol felt that Tonkon Torp, as a new firm with many young attorneys, would be a progressive workplace that would support her both professionally and as a single parent at the time with two young daughters. Her instinct was correct, and she stayed with Tonkon Torp until her retirement in 2012.
