Sowmiya is an associate in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department. She graduated magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was a member of the South Indian Law Students Association and inducted into the Cornelius Honor Society. At Lewis & Clark, she acted as a Production Editor with the Lewis & Clark Law Review, was a teaching fellow in the lawyering department, and a volunteer with the Northwestern Environmental Defense Center.
As a law student, Sowmiya worked at Tonkon Torp as a 1L Diversity Fellow and 2L Summer Associate. In these roles, she prepared corporate law and litigation memoranda on a variety of matters, including on issues of contract force majeure and product liability. During law school, Sowmiya further worked as a legal intern with Access Justice Brooklyn and as a law clerk at the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic put on by Legal Aid Services of Oregon.
Outside of work, Sowmiya enjoys oil painting and cooking. She is also an avid reader and art history enthusiast.
