Philip is a business associate in Tonkon Torp’s Nonprofit Organizations and Estate Planning & Advocacy practice groups.
Philip joined the firm after working as a consultant with a real estate-oriented family office, where he assisted in strategic business transitions, evaluated fit between a diversified portfolio and a family investment thesis, and helped analyze core terms of partnership agreements, subscription documents, and governance materials for investments in private equity, private credit, and real estate. Philip also worked as a consultant with the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, analyzing proposed federal tax legislation, including distributional and revenue implications of amendments to family and dependent tax provisions.
Philip graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. During law school, he served as a Certified Law Student at the Metropolitan Public Defender in Portland. He also interned with the Federal Community Defender of the Eastern District of Michigan and worked as a law clerk with the Juvenile Division, Baltimore City of the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
In his free time, Philip enjoys cooking, gardening, getting outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, and spending time with his pets and family.
