Overview

Jeff Bradford represents business clients in federal court, state court, arbitration, and mediation. He works both with small, local businesses and national corporations, guiding them through disputes as well as advising them on preventative best practices. He also represents nonprofit clients in litigation and private dispute resolution.

Jeff has tried cases and arbitrated disputes regarding contracts and commercial transactions, duties of directors and officers, shareholder rights, class actions, business torts, and professional malpractice. Jeff regularly defends businesses facing class action lawsuits in federal court alleging violations of the TCPA. He advises healthcare clients regarding ownership structure and the corporate practice of medicine. Jeff also represents podcasters, performers, and entertainers. He serves as Tonkon Torp’s associate general counsel.

Before attending law school, Jeff was manager of training services for BrainStorm, Inc., a Utah-based software training company.

Commercial Farm Partnership

Won a jury verdict on claims of breach of contract and unjust enrichment between two former business partners, following a four-day trial.

Regional Grocery Retailer

Won an arbitration award, including attorney fees, on contract claims brought by a regional grocery retailer against its supplier, following a five-day arbitration hearing in front of a three-judge panel.

Commercial Farm Manager

Won an arbitration award, including attorney fees, on contract claims brought by a farm management company against the farm’s owners, following a six-day arbitration hearing.

National Mortgage Lender

Defeated class certification and won summary judgment in TCPA class action matter.

Commercial Tenant

Obtained an arbitration award, including attorney fees, on contract claims brought by a local landlord against a commercial tenant.

Construction Company

Secured an arbitration award, including attorney fees, on contract claims brought by a national distribution company against a construction company.

National Franchise

Defended a national franchise company in federal court and worked on team that obtained summary judgment on claims brought by an out-of-state franchise owner.

Nonprofit Organization

Prevailed in a bench trial for a Portland-based nonprofit organization asserting claims against both local and state agencies, including attorney fees.

Software Company

Served on team that successfully tried trade secret claims in federal court.

Tonkon Torp Wins Arbitration for Cannabis Farm Manager

Tonkon Torp has secured an award of $647k for a cannabis farm management company based on its work in 2017. 2017 was the first year a large number of outdoor cannabis farms were licensed by the OLCC. This combined with favorable weather conditions resulted in a record bumper crop, and the wholesale price of sungrown cannabis dropped by more than half.

Tonkon Torp Celebrates Grand Reopening at Wells Fargo Center

On September 25, nearly 200 Tonkon Torp attorneys, staff, alumni, and friends gathered to celebrate the firm’s grand re-opening at the Wells Fargo Center. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson was in attendance to aid in the festivities. Andrew Hoan, President & CEO of the Portland Metro Chamber, presided over a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony led by Tonkon torp Managing Partner Anna Sortun, immediate past Managing Partner Kurt Ruttum, and Tonkon Torp partners Jeff Bradford and Kimberlee Stafford, all who played key roles in managing the firm’s move.
