Wilker at Portland City Club on Friday to Address Supreme Court Decision on Campaign Spending

Tonkon Torp attorney Steven M. Wilker is a featured speaker at the January 20, 2012 meeting of the City Club of Portland.

Wilker and Janice Thompson, Executive Director of Common Cause Oregon, will address the topic, “Are Corporations People? The impact and future of ‘Citizens United.'” Their remarks focus on the effects of a 2010 landmark Supreme Court ruling about political campaign spending by corporations and unions, and how the ruling may affect future state and national elections. The program beings at 12:15 p.m.

Wilker is a partner in the Tonkon Torp Litigation Department and serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of the ACLU of Oregon and Chair of its Lawyers Committee. Wilker’s trial and appellate work is focused on complex commercial litigation involving issues of securities and finance, intellectual property, media and technology, energy and corporate governance. He counsels local, regional and national clients in disputes in Oregon and across the country.
