Tonkon Torp is pleased to welcome law students Abigail Durrant, Index Marcus, and Irina Toland to its 2026 summer program. The three will complete a ten-week program with the firm that provides real-word training in private practice, introduces them to a variety of clients and practices, and pairs them with dedicated mentors.
The firm offers its nationally competitive paid summer associate program for first-year (1L) and second-year (2L) law students, along with a Diversity Fellowship for 1L law students. The Fellowship includes the 10-week associate position, as well as a $10,000 grant to help defray the law student’s second year tuition and expenses.
Abigail “Abby” Durrant is a 2L from Vermont Law and Graduate School where she is on the Dean’s List and worked as a student attorney in the school’s Environmental Advocacy Clinic. She is a 2024 graduate of Reed College, earning her B.A. in Political Science. She worked as a Commercial Law Clerk for Dutch Bros., LLC in her 1L summer. Prior to law school, Durrant interned for U.S. Senator Ron Wyden and was a legislative assistant to Oregon Representative Pam Marsh. She also worked as a legal assistant at HOK Law, LLC. Durrant will be mentored by business attorney Zack Schick.
Index “Dex” Marcus, a 2L from Lewis & Clark Law School, was Tonkon’s 2025 Diversity Fellow. Index graduated from Reed College in 2020 with a B.A. in Theater. In their second year of law school, they participated in a Mock Trial Team and were a staff member at the Lewis & Clark Law Review (where they will serve as Lead Article Editor in their 3L year). They also served as an Upper Division Representative for the Student Bar Association. Prior to law school, Marcus coached gymnastics at Oregon Metropolitan Elite Gymnastics Academy in Beaverton. They will be mentored by litigator Eric Levine.
Irina Toland, a 1L at Willamette University College of Law, is Tonkon Torp’s 2026 Diversity Fellow. She earned her B.A. in International Affairs from Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, Russia. She has an M.A. in Political Science and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oregon. Toland has worked as a Graduate Employee at the University of Oregon, and, in her home country of Russia, as a Diplomatic Mission Intern at the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Russian Federation, as well as a Visa Officer. Toland will be mentored by litigator Olivia Ashé.
