Tonkon Torp Immigration Attorneys Speak at AILA P.L.A.N. Conference

On March 3, Tonkon Torp partners Melina LaMorticella and Melany Savitt were featured speakers at the 2023 P.L.A.N. Conference, hosted by AILA Oregon and designed for paralegals, law students, assistants, and new practitioners. Their respective presentations were part of the event’s Employment-Based Immigration learning track.

Melina led a session on effective writing and communication. She explored ways that business immigration practitioners and professionals can communicate efficiently and provided tips for writing immigration support letters and preparing evidence to adhere to USCIS guidance and regulations.

Melany provided a hands-on overview of completing the forms related to an H-1B petition filing. These include Form ETA 9035 (Labor Condition Application), Form I-907 (Premium Processing), Form G-28 (Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney), and Forms I-129 and H-1B (Supplement Forms). She guided the audience through the actual forms, using details from a hypothetical petitioner.

Melina and Melany are partners in Tonkon Torp’s Business Immigration Practice Group. They counsel businesses of all sizes from a variety of industries on the full suite of immigration options and compliance matters relating to employment of foreign national employees.
