On November 12, Tonkon Torp co-hosted “Start with Courage,” an event for women entrepreneurs, with KeyBank and Geffen Mesher. The annual event, which was emceed by Tonkon Torp Partner Anna Sortun, was attended by over 150 women who hold founder and leadership positions in local businesses. The program featured Cindy Solomon, a leadership expert, author, and keynote speaker. Cindy used real-life stories and humorous anecdotes to share four types of courage that women can draw upon to take action in the face of business risk.
Cindy also moderated a panel that paired three local women business leaders with their professional service providers to talk about courageous leadership, life lessons, and business advice. Tonkon Torp partner Brenda Meltebeke joined Christy Goldsby, Founder and CEO of Nectar Foods, who spoke about growing her Honey Mama’s product line that is now distributed in over 3,000 stores. Mollie Plocher, Founder and CEO of 2Hemisperes was paired with Jennifer Fern-Peterson from KeyBank, and self-proclaimed “Serial Entrepreneur” Heidi Johnson Bixby teamed up with her CPA, Tania Gitch from Geffen Mesher.
