Seven Tonkon Torp Attorneys Earn Distinction as Portland Lawyers of the Year

Best Lawyers in America 2014 has named seven attorneys from Tonkon Torp LLP as Portland Lawyer of the Year for their particular specialties. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the Lawyer of the Year by the peer review survey.

Named Portland’s Lawyer of the Year 2014 for their practice areas are: Sherrill A. Corbett, Corporate Governance Law; Jeffrey S. Cronn, Corporate Compliance Law; Mark L. Cushing, Government Relations Practice; Justin B. Denton, Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships); Ronald L. Greenman, Mergers & Acquisitions Law; William F. Martson, Jr., Litigation – Regulatory Enforcement (SEC, etc.); and Michael M. Morgan, Energy Law.

Corbett chairs Tonkon Torp’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and is a member of the Corporate Finance Practice Group. She has represented, among others, The Greenbrier Companies as Oregon counsel on numerous corporate finance and acquisition matters. Last year she was named Portland Lawyer of the Year for Corporate Compliance Law.

Cronn has chaired the firm’s Business Department for the past six years. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and governance, and business divorce. Representative clients include NIKE, R.V. Kuhns & Associates, Element Power US and MotoSport.

Cushing chairs Tonkon Torp’s Government Relations & Public Policy Practice Group. In his bipartisan, bicoastal practice, he often works with Oregon’s Congressional delegation. He is also founder of the Animal Policy Group, offering government relations services on pet and production animal issues as well as international accreditation of veterinary colleges.

Denton chairs the firm’s Closely Held Business Practice Group and is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group. Denton counsels family owned businesses and other closely held companies, including clients seeking to create joint ventures and limited liability companies. He represents clients in many industries, including real estate, senior living, manufacturing, and medical and dental.

Greenman’s business law practice is focused on corporate finance, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. He counsels clients through all stages of business formation and growth, as well as regulatory compliance. Representative clients include United States Bakery, Key Technology, Endeavor Capital and Columbia Distributing.

Martson, a founding member of Tonkon Torp, practices in the firm’s Litigation Department. He specializes in civil cases before state and federal courts, and has tried over 200 cases involving securities and shareholder rights, natural resource and environmental based litigation. He has been named to the select list of “Bet the Company” litigators by Best Lawyers in America for four consecutive years.

Morgan, managing partner of the firm, is a senior partner in Tonkon Torp’s Energy and Regulated Industries Practice Group. He has represented energy companies before the Oregon Public Utility Commission, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, and the Bonneville Power Administration. Morgan has been included in the Best Lawyers in America for the last 14 consecutive years.
