Portland Trial Attorney Darian Stanford Joins Tonkon Torp

Darian Stanford has joined the Litigation Department of Tonkon Torp. Prior to joining the firm, he was a named partner at Slinde Nelson Stanford LLC. While there, Stanford tried a variety of complex cases, managed a commercial litigation and administrative/regulatory practice, and functioned as in-house counsel for a U.S. Department of Defense contractor.

Before joining Slinde Nelson, Stanford served for five years as a Deputy District Attorney for Multnomah County, prosecuting crimes including major felonies. He was the in-house litigation attorney for Precision Castparts, managing its litigation in the U.S. and Europe, and devising pre-litigation solutions to global business problems. Darian began his legal career in the general litigation practice group at Stoel Rives LLP.

"Over the course of nearly twenty years of practice, I have enjoyed a diverse legal career: small firm, prosecutor, legislative counsel, in-house for Fortune 500 company, etc.," said Stanford. "But the opportunity to bring that diverse background to a firm with the reputation and talent of Tonkon Torp was not something to be missed."

Darcy Norville, Managing Partner, said, "Darian enjoys a well-deserved reputation in the legal and business community for being tough, smart, and ethical. We are proud to add him to our team and provide him with the strong litigation bench he needs to grow his practice. Our clients will benefit greatly from Darian's trial expertise and his business acumen."

Stanford is active in the Northwest legal community. As an Adjunct Professor, he has taught criminal procedure at Lewis & Clark Law School, and sports law at Willamette University College of Law.

He graduated from Stanford Law School in 1999, holds an M.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Baylor University in 1994.
