Paul Balmer Joins Tonkon Torp Litigation Department

PORTLAND, Ore. (November 11, 2020) Attorney Paul Balmer has joined Tonkon Torp LLP as an associate in its Litigation Department. Balmer works with regional and national businesses and individuals to resolve challenges in and out of court, including contract disputes and administrative charges.

“Even before I had the chance to get to know Tonkon Torp attorneys and staff as a Summer Associate, the firm’s deep Portland roots, real commitment to community service, and strong reputation for legal work and professionalism really stood out to me,” said Balmer. “I’m thrilled to begin my legal career here.”

Balmer is a 2020 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. While in law school, he worked at Tonkon Torp as a Summer Associate and completed judicial externships for the Honorable Kathleen Banke at the California Court of Appeal and the Honorable Trina Thompson at the Alameda County Superior Court. A Portland native, Balmer also worked for several years in the Washington, D.C. office of Congressman Earl Blumenauer, where he focused on transportation and urban livability policy.

“We are pleased that Paul is joining our litigation team after getting to know him as a Summer Associate,” said Anna Sortun, Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “We are confident that his judicial externships and prior work experiences will benefit our clients and we look forward to working with Paul as he develops his litigation practice.”
