Parna Mehrbani Helps Crack the Imposter Syndrome Code for Oregon Women Lawyers

On July 21, Tonkon Torp partner Parna Mehrbani was a panelist for a virtual workshop on Imposter Syndrome hosted by Oregon Women Lawyers. Many lawyers struggle with Imposter Syndrome, a common psychological pattern that affects high-performers, causing them to doubt their accomplishments or feel like a “fraud.” Parna was joined by Oregon Department of Justice lawyer Melissa Chureau and Career and Executive Coach Susanne Aronowitz. The women shared personal stories, details on how Imposter Syndrome manifests, and strategies to gain confidence and move beyond its limitations. Parna also provided insight into how Imposter Syndrome intersects with the additional challenges and stressors facing underrepresented members of the legal community including people of color and immigrants.

Parna is co-chair of the Information Privacy & Security Practice Group, and a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice is focused on intellectual property, trademark and copyright registration, licensing, and enforcement, and advising on intellectual property portfolios for local, national, and international companies. She also advises businesses on the management and security of personal data and the laws that regulate the collection, use, and protection of personal data.
