PORTLAND, Ore. (September 9, 2021) Tonkon Torp LLP welcomes attorney Maureen McGee to its Government Relations & Public Policy and Government Solutions practice groups. McGee joins Tonkon Torp from the Oregon Office of Legislative Counsel, where she served lawmakers as a Senior Deputy Counsel for nearly nine years. In that role, she provided nonpartisan, policy-neutral legal services to the 90 members of the Oregon Legislative Assembly.
“Working at Legislative Counsel taught me that sound public policy depends on trust built through honest communication, a commitment to integrity, and meaningful collaboration,” shared McGee. “The Government Relations attorneys at Tonkon Torp embody these values at every stage of their work, making this group the perfect fit for me as I transition into an advocacy role.”
McGee has been lead legislative counsel on a large variety of legally and politically complex legislative discussions, covering everything from carbon cap-and-trade to product stewardship and broadband accessibility. At Tonkon Torp, Maureen’s practice will combine legal counsel and government relations advocacy to provide clients with tailored solutions on matters before the Oregon legislature, administrative agencies, and local governments.
“We’ve worked with Maureen on legislative issues for years and have been continually impressed with her technical and legal skill in a wide variety of industry and policy areas,” said Drew Hagedorn, Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Government Relations & Public Policy Practice Group. “She is a problem solver who puts in the work to see unique opportunities where others don’t. Her tenacity and first-hand government experience will be of great benefit to our clients, and we’re very excited to have her join our team.”
McGee holds a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound and a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.
