Litigator Lauren Bernton was featured as a speaker at the 2025 Real Estate Conference hosted by the Oregon Society of CPAs in Beaverton, Oregon.
Bernton offered a breakdown of key property tax issues to consider in real estate transactions. She reviewed what real property is subject to taxation and discussed options for appealing real property tax. Bernton wrapped up her presentation with a discussion of Oregon’s Ballot Measure 5 and compression, defined as the reduction in property taxes when the tax imposed exceeds the limits set by the measure.
Bernton is a partner in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department, where she focuses her work on commercial disputes, with an emphasis on complex real estate litigation, including property tax disputes. She regularly advocates for multinational companies, regional companies, and local businesses to help them achieve their goals through trial and dispute resolution.
