PORTLAND, Ore. (August 24, 2020) Tonkon Torp LLP welcomes Kate Roth to the firm as an associate in its Tax and Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits practice groups. Roth joins the firm from the United States Tax Court where she was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Kathleen Kerrigan. While there, she conducted federal taxation research and drafted memoranda and opinions regarding tax-related disputes and issues.
“I am looking forward to the opportunities in front of me at joining Tonkon Torp,” shared Roth. “I was drawn to the firm by the talent and passion that people bring to their work. Everyone I have encountered is genuine, and I am inspired by their innovative ideas to meet client needs.”
Prior to the U.S. Tax Court, Roth worked at Grant Thornton, LLP as a Mergers & Acquisitions tax associate and was a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice, Civil Enforcement Division. She earned her Taxation LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, her J.D. from University of Oregon School of Law, and her B.S. from Oregon State University.
“We’re thrilled that Kate has joined us,” said Gwendolyn Griffith, Chair of Tonkon Torp's Tax Practice Group. “The experience and unique insights she has gained at the U.S. Tax Court, along with her natural talent for problem-solving, will be a great benefit to our colleagues and our clients across multiple practice groups as we move through this complicated business landscape.”
