On February 11, Business Immigration partners Alan Perkins and Melany Savitt hosted a webinar to help employers prepare for the upcoming H-1B Cap season, and to preview early changes to immigration made by the Biden administration.
The program started with a look at updates to international travel and visa applications. Turning to an overview of the H-1B lottery, the attorneys discussed how Trump-era changes to H-1B wage and lottery regulations have been delayed under President Biden and are pending further review.
A look at the use of Form I-9 during COVID-19 included a conversation about an extension to the temporary remote verification policy, and how employers can prepare for updating Section 2 for employees who were onboarded via remote inspection upon USCIS’ cessation of this temporary policy. The program concluded with a look at other critical updates to business immigration including President Biden’s ICE enforcement priorities, the impact of his executive orders to date, rescissions of various Trump policies, severe receipt notice delays, and potential immigration legislation that the Biden administration will pursue.
