Erickson and Mehrbani Review 2019 Trademark Law for Oregon State Bar

On February 14, Tonkon Torp partners Chris Erickson and Parna Mehrbani led a review of 2019 trademark law at the annual Intellectual Property Year-in-Review program hosted by the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Section. Parna is currently the Chair of the section’s Executive Committee, and Chris is its Secretary. During their session, they shared details and decisions for 15 significant trademark cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Courts of Appeals, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The cases examined a broad range of issues including first amendment protection, infringement, and registration qualifiers for trademarks in industries as diverse as makeup, snow groomers, websites, and apparel.

Chris and Parna are members of Tonkon Torp’s Intellectual Property Law Practice Group. Attorneys in the practice group provide a full range of counseling and compliance services, as well as litigation expertise.
