PORTLAND, Ore. — In June 2026, Tonkon Torp launched the Downtown Cup, a friendly competition among local law and accounting firms designed to support downtown Portland and its small businesses. Over the course of the summer, participants logged more than 3,100 coffee shop and restaurant visits across the city.
The inaugural Downtown Cup featured two challenges: one recognizing the firm that visited the widest range of coffee shops and another recognizing the firm that logged the most lunches out. Winners were announced at a September 9 celebration at Paddy’s, Portland’s oldest Irish pub.
PwC won the Coffee Passport challenge after making 322 visits to 31 distinct coffee shops. Collectively, participants logged 1,616 visits to 79 coffee shops during the summer. 40 Lbs Coffee attracted employees from nine of the 12 competing firms—the broadest reach of any coffee shop—and participants logged 62 coffee shop visits on June 16 alone.
Tonkon Torp led the Lunches Out challenge, logging 320 lunches across 68 restaurants. Collectively, the participating firms logged 1,551 lunches at 218 restaurants throughout the summer. July was the busiest month, generating 651 lunch visits. Luc Lac Vietnamese Kitchen and Southpark Seafood tied for the broadest reach, with employees from 10 of the 12 firms visiting each restaurant.
Honorable mention is due to Dunn Carney LLP, who recorded the highest combined participation across the Coffee Passport and Lunches Out challenges.
