Danny Newman Talks Virtual Mediation for American Bar Association

On October 3, Tonkon Torp attorney Danny Newman participated in a panel discussing virtual and hybrid mediations. The CLE was presented by the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.

During the panel, Danny and the other guests offered insight and examples from their own experience with virtual and hybrid mediations. They looked at the pros and cons of this format, and shared tips on preparing for an effective session. They also shared strategies for optimizing the mediation, and steps to take afterwards to achieve a successful outcome for the client. While the other presenters had considerable experience as advocates or mediators, Danny focused his comments and recommendations on practical and immediate steps younger lawyers should take when preparing for and participating in virtual mediations.

Danny is an associate in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department and Bankruptcy & Creditor Rights Practice Group. He represents clients on large and complex bankruptcy cases, bet-the-company commercial and energy litigation, government investigations and enforcement actions, and various election-law related proceedings.
