Tonkon Torp attorney Danny Newman was accepted into the 2022 class of Leadership Portland, an annual program offered by the Portland Business Alliance (PBA) to cultivate and develop community leaders. Selection for the program is based on written applications and interviews. Recent past participants from the firm include Jeff Bradford and Haley Morrison.
During the course of the nine-month program, a cohort of rising business leaders from a variety of industries in the Portland community meet once a month to learn about and discuss a broad range of critical issues that affect the region. They gain a deeper understanding of how business, government, and community sectors work together to achieve common goals in areas as diverse as arts and culture, local government, public service, and healthcare, among others.
Each participant works on a group “Impact Project” on behalf of a nonprofit. Danny’s group will be working with Saturday Academy to build a Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB will help the organization capture and amplify student and community voices as it transitions its focus to serving underrepresented and underserved students with high-impact STEM education.
Danny is an associate in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department and Bankruptcy & Creditor Rights Practice Group. He has represented clients on large and complex bankruptcy cases, bet-the-company commercial and energy litigation, and government investigations and enforcement actions.
