Christopher Morehead Talks FFCRA Emergency Leave Options for Craft Beverage Industry

On April 8, Tonkon Torp attorney Christopher Morehead was a featured guest for a webinar program on emergency leave for craft beverage businesses hosted by The Oregon Brewers Guild, B.I.N.G., and The Caputo Group.

Chris gave an overview of employee paid leave available through The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) as Emergency Paid Sick Leave and Emergency Family Medical Leave. He discussed the qualifying reasons that can trigger emergency leave, the amount of leave available, payment caps, and notice requirements. He also explained the small business exemption, consequences for non-compliance, and tax credits and reimbursement available to employers required to make FFCRA payments. Following the presentation, Chris answered questions from the participants about how emergency leave would affect their business.

Chris is an associate in Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. He works with local, regional, and national employers in such industries as banking, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and craft beverage, helping clients to solve complicated employment matters and to comply with Oregon employment law.
