Ava Schoen and Danny Newman Discuss Bankruptcy at OSB Business Law Update

On November 3, Tonkon Torp attorneys Ava Schoen and Danny Newman were guest speakers at the 2022 Business Law Update hosted by the OSB Business Law Section.

Their session focused on bankruptcy fundamentals for business lawyers and included an overview of the different types of bankruptcy filings. Ava and Danny also reviewed considerations for pre-bankruptcy issues for debtors and creditors, and offered opportunities that bankruptcy could give to a business. They wrapped up their session by looking at automatic stays and sharing ways to help clients avoid violations.

Ava is a partner in the Bankruptcy & Creditor Rights Practice Group. Her practice focuses on Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations, debtor-creditor law, and commercial litigation. Schoen has provided services to clients in diverse industries including real estate, retail, manufacturing, farming, and technology. She has experience representing Chapter 11 debtors-in-possession as well as creditors.

Danny is an associate in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department and Bankruptcy & Creditor Rights Practice Group. He represents clients on large and complex bankruptcy cases, bet-the-company commercial and energy litigation, government investigations and enforcement actions, and various election-law related proceedings.
