Anna Sortun Named Up and Coming Lawyer for 2012

Tonkon Torp litigator Anna Sortun has been named a 2012 Up & Coming Lawyer honoree by the Portland Daily Journal of Commerce.  She is among a select group of 20 young lawyers recognized by a judging panel comprised of leaders from Oregon’s legal community.

In her practice, Sortun represents businesses and individuals in disputes involving contract, tort, antitrust, intellectual property and constitutional law matters. Anna has first-chaired several jury trials in federal and state court, and has represented clients in bench trials, private arbitrations, mediations and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She joined the firm in 2005 after earning her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law and completing a year-long clerkship with the Honorable Alfred T. Goodwin, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  A member of the Oregon State Bar Committee on Federal Practice and Procedure, Sortun also serves on the Board of Directors of Photolucida, a contemporary photography nonprofit.  She has provided pro bono litigation services on behalf of the Oregon Law Center and Legal Aid Services of Oregon.

Up & Coming Lawyers honors attorneys who exhibit outstanding commitment to the legal profession and the community. Only lawyers admitted to the Oregon State Bar within the last 10 years are considered.

Anna is an accomplished litigator whose work on behalf of clients and with various professional and community organizations certainly merits this recognition,” said Mike Morgan, Tonkon Torp managing partner.  “It is great to see the next generation of lawyers stepping into leadership roles within our firm, our profession and our city.”
