PORTLAND, Ore. – Tonkon Torp LLP has added attorney Alexander Ray to its Business Department. He brings significant experience in corporate governance, venture capital and growth equity investments, securities law, and advising emerging businesses.
Ray joins Tonkon Torp from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Boulder, Colorado, where he advised technology and life sciences startups through key stages of their growth. While at Wilson Sonsini, he also participated in numerous local and national pro bono initiatives and was recognized with the firm’s 2026 Community Impact Award.
“Alex has advised innovative companies at every stage of their development,” said David Petersen, Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Business Department. “His work with venture-backed startups, combined with his strong foundation in corporate governance and securities law, will be a tremendous asset to our clients and team.”
Ray advises established companies and early-stage startups on venture capital and growth equity investments, pre-exit strategies, transactions, corporate governance, and securities matters. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where he served as a bankruptcy research assistant and clerked with two Austin law firms. He received his B.A. in Communications from Brigham Young University. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and Colorado.
“I was drawn to Tonkon Torp because of its reputation for exceptional client service, collaborative culture, and deep commitment to the Pacific Northwest business community,” said Ray. “I grew up in Oregon and am excited to be back living and working in my home state.
