Anna Sortun Offers Career Planning Insight at OSB Leadership Institute

On October 8, Tonkon Torp partner Anna Sortun was a featured panelist during the Career Planning session of the Oregon State Bar Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute is a nine-month program that aims to cultivate the leadership skills of Oregon lawyers from diverse backgrounds and serve the legal profession and the Oregon community by increasing awareness regarding ethical, professional, and community service opportunities.

During the program, Anna and her co-presenters shared insight into private practice at mid-to-large-size firms in Oregon. The group discussed the importance of internal and external marketing, the “business” of a law firm, the path to partnership, and efforts Portland firms are making to address issues of diversity and inclusion.

As Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department, Anna has a wide-ranging commercial litigation practice that encompasses consumer protection matters, disputes between business owners, and complex tort cases. In her 15 years of practice, Anna has tried more than a dozen jury trials to verdict in state and federal court and has resolved dozens more short of trial, through motions practice or settlement.
