Parna Mehrbani Covers Intellectual Property for Oregon Angel Food

On July 20, Tonkon Torp partner Parna Mehrbani led a session on intellectual property for the Oregon Angel Food (OregonAF) 2021 workshop series, hosted by the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. Each session in the virtual series provides information to help entrepreneurs successfully launch and scale a food or beverage business.

Parna provided a foundational overview of the crucial intellectual property tools that food and beverage companies can use to protect their brands. She looked at the difference between trademarks and copyrights, provided considerations for label information, and shared insight into protecting trade secrets. The session also addressed key considerations for entering into contracted relationships.

Parna is Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Information Privacy & Security Practice Group, and a partner in its Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice is focused on intellectual property, trademark and copyright registration, licensing and enforcement, and advising on intellectual property portfolios for local, national, and international companies. She also advises businesses on the management and security of personal data and the laws that regulate the collection, use, and protection of personal data.
