Parna Mehrbani Outlines IP Issues for Business Litigators

On March 16, Tonkon Torp partner Parna Mehrbani was a featured panelist at an event hosted by the Oregon State Bar Business Litigation Section. The program was designed to provide business litigators with an overview of intellectual property issues and strategies and tips for IP cases, particularly when business litigators should call in an IP expert.

Parna and two other intellectual property experts reviewed the key elements of patents, trademarks and copyrights, and how they are different. For each category of IP, the attorneys reviewed options for proceedings in state and federal courts or with other agencies such as the U.S. International Trademark Commission (ITC) or the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. They also provided strategies and recommendations for pre-filing diligence, working with experts, and settlements.

Parna is Co-Chair of Tonkon Torp’s Information Privacy & Security Practice Group, and a partner in its Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice is focused on intellectual property, trademark and copyright registration, licensing, and enforcement, and advising on intellectual property portfolios for local, national, and international companies. She also advises businesses on the management and security of personal data and the laws that regulate the collection, use, and protection of personal data.
