Tyler Harkness Leads Session on Strategic Planning and Leadership for OSU Family Business 360
Tonkon Torp attorney Tyler Harkness led a session on leadership transitions, strategic planning, and corporate governance at the February 17 Family Business 360 program, hosted by the College of Business at Oregon State University. Tyler was joined by Matt Sprick, President and CEO of Safe & Civil Schools and Ancora Publishing (both Tonkon Torp clients), to talk about how his businesses navigated strategic planning and leadership issues while his family executed an intergenerational leadership transition in the midst of a pandemic disrupting their businesses. During the conversation, Tyler offered insight into corporate governance matters, formal structures, policies, and other legal supports businesses can put in place to enable effective transitions that retain enterprise value and set up businesses to succeed even in the face of a crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Family Business 360 is a series of educational lectures produced by the College of Business at Oregon State University for family-owned businesses. Each session provides practical information on timely topics delivered by professional advisors and family business owners who share their experience, insight, and lessons learned.
