Parna Mehrbani Leads CLE on Professionalism to Umatilla County Bar Association

On August 2, Tonkon Torp partner Parna Mehrbani spoke to members of the Umatilla County Bar Association on the topic of professionalism. Parna, who is the immediate past-chair of the Oregon Bench and Bar Commission on Professionalism, spoke alongside the current Commission Chair. They reviewed the mandate of the 26-member Commission, which is comprised of judges, lawyers, and professional advisors and shared how the Commission approaches the broad concept of professionalism.

During their presentation, they looked at the different ways in which professional conduct touches an attorney’s life including client representation, reputation with the bench and larger legal community, and business development. They also shared general approaches on how to maintain professional conduct during litigation, and the benefits of focusing on how colleagues from different generations execute their practice rather than viewing a different working or appearance style as unprofessional.

Parna is Co-Chair of the Information Privacy & Security Practice Group, and a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice focuses on intellectual property, trademark and copyright registration, licensing and enforcement, and advising on intellectual property portfolios for local, national, and international companies. She also advises businesses on the management and security of personal data and the laws that regulate the collection, use, and protection of personal data.
