Eric Beach and Parna Mehrbani Discuss California Privacy Act for Portland Business Journal
The Portland Business Journal has published an editorial by Eric Beach and Parna Mehrbani on why Oregon companies should care about the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA). The CCPA is arguably the most comprehensive data privacy statute in the country and will go into effect January 1, 2020. The Act establishes comprehensive privacy rights for California residents (called “consumers” in the CCPA) over personal information collected, used, and sold by businesses. It will have a significant impact on Oregon businesses.
Eric and Parna are both attorneys in Tonkon Torp's Intellectual Property and Information Privacy & Security practice groups. The Information Privacy & Security group helps clients understand and comply with the laws and industry standards that regulate the collection, use, sharing, protection and proper disposal of personal data.
