Annual L&E Law Update Prepares Employers for the Ultimate Game

On May 2, attorneys from the Tonkon Torp Labor & Employment and Business Immigration practice groups hosted their annual Employment Law Update at the Oregon Zoo for 200 human resource professionals and other business leaders. The fantasy-themed briefing, “Enforcement is Coming,” provided a review of the key chapters, major players, and plot twists that will help employers stay compliant in the wide-ranging saga that is the modern workplace.

The half-day briefing provided insight into employment law topics of particular importance to Oregon and Washington employers. The presentations covered: internal HR and ER investigations; legislative and regulatory updates; the pros and cons of arbitration agreements; NLRB updates for non-union employers; potential employer liability for workplace events; meal and rest period compliance; business immigration updates; and mental health and the ADA. The event concluded with an update on recent case law that impacts employers.
