Sherrill Corbett Speaks about Pacific Foods Sale at Business Transition Seminar

On November 15, Tonkon Torp sponsored a business transition seminar with Geffen Mesher, CVF Capital Partners, and First Republic Investment Management. The event was held at the Multnomah Athletic Club for nearly 90 local business leaders and featured a slate of professional advisors including Tonkon Torp partner Sherrill Corbett.

The morning program kicked off with a presentation by Michael Lortz of Geffen Mesher on the importance of planning an exit strategy. Chris Carleson of CVF Capital Partners expanded on funding the exit, while Kathy Calcagno from First Republic looked at the wealth planning aspects of a transition. The program then focused on two businesses that recently completed exits. First, owners Rob and Lori Lansing shared how they navigated a successful sale of their business, Co-Sales Northwest, the largest independent food broker in the region. And then Sherrill joined Bryan Coluccio, former general counsel for Pacific Foods, to discuss the recent sale of Pacific Foods to Campbell Soup. They focused on the role that careful due diligence played in the transaction, and shared lessons learned from Oregon’s largest M&A deal of 2017.

Sherrill chairs the firm's Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Managing Board. She works with businesses of all sizes and focuses a portion of her practice on women-owned or run businesses, and counseling clients on buying and selling businesses, forming joint ventures, raising capital, and other general business matters.
