David Petersen Talks CLT on Business of Portland Podcast

On October 9, Tonkon Torp partner David Petersen was a guest on the “Business of Portland” podcast produced by Pamplin Media. He spoke with hosts Joseph Gallivan and Stephanie Basalyga about cross-laminated timber (CLT), its prospects for new building in Oregon, and the risks from the perspectives of lenders and builders. In discussing how CLT is viewed by the development community, David drew parallels between how developers and lenders approached early renewable energy projects and how they might embrace using sustainable wood products. He also provided an update on CLT projects in development in Oregon. David recently published a blog post about the potential that CLT holds for construction.

David chairs Tonkon Torp’s Real Estate & Land Use Practice Group, focusing his practice on land use and local government law. He has a subspecialty focusing on renewable energy development, having worked with many clients to bring utility-scale wind and solar facilities online in Oregon, California, and elsewhere.
