Tonkon Torp Hosts Employers for Business Immigration Briefing

On September 14, Tonkon Torp immigration lawyers Alan Perkins, Turid Owren, Melina LaMorticella, and Melany Savitt, along with labor and employment attorney Blerina Kotori, hosted an in-depth business immigration briefing for employers. The program focused on worksite enforcement trends, Form I-9 details, and compliance strategies.

The attorneys kicked off the briefing by reviewing recent statistics on ICE enforcement actions and the industries being targeted the most. They then provided an overview of worksite enforcement actions being taken by different government agencies. They explored what triggers such actions, how to prepare for them, and what each agency may want to see. The lawyers also shared best practices for compliance with immigration and employment laws, including how to avoid citizenship/immigration status discrimination and document abuse.

Tonkon Torp's Business Immigration Practice Group counsels businesses on the full suite of immigration options and compliance matters relating to employment of foreign national employees. The firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group provides practical solutions to labor and employment problems for a diverse group of Pacific Northwest employers.
