The Dramatic Expansion of Oregon’s Absolute Litigation Privilege

Oregon courts have long recognized the absolute litigation privilege as a bar to claims for defamation based on statements made in the course of or incident to judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings. In recent years, however, Oregon’s absolute litigation privi­lege has expanded dramatically, well beyond the scope originally contemplated.
