Gwendolyn Griffith Presents at Association for Financial Professionals Luncheon

On January 17, Gwendolyn Griffith, Chair of Tonkon Torp's Taxation Practice Group and Executive Director of the Oregon Facilities Authority, was a featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the Association for Financial Professionals. Her presentation focused on how tax-exempt conduit revenue loans and bonds issued through the Oregon Facilities Authority can assist nonprofits with low-cost financing of capital projects such as the acquisition of buildings and equipment.

In particular, Gwen focused on the likely impacts of the recent tax reform bill on tax-exempt interest rates and supply/demand for tax-exempt debt, and reviewed the history and financial theory of the relationship between changes in tax rates and yields. Gwen will be speaking on tax reform at the Portland-Seattle Joint Symposium of AFP in May.

Tonkon Torp hosts the Oregon Facilities Authority, a state agency, at its offices in Portland and provides Gwen as its Executive Director. In addition, Gwen’s practice at Tonkon Torp includes a wide range of matters related to taxation. She is an author of several books on taxation and is a frequent speaker on tax and wealth transition topics.

The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) is the professional society committed to advancing the success of its members, who are treasury and finance professionals from a wide range of organizations.
