Jeanette Schuster Moderates Panel on Stormwater Enforcement Issues

On June 20, Tonkon Torp attorney Jeanette Schuster moderated a panel discussion at the Northwest Environmental Business Council’s annual stormwater conference. Her panel was on key legal issues related to stormwater regulation enforcement and citizen suits.

The panel included representatives from a major construction company, an environmental consulting firm, and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Jeanette led a conversation that explored lessons learned through navigating agency enforcement actions and citizen lawsuits filed against companies under the Clean Water Act. The panel also discussed DEQ priorities for stormwater permit enforcement, and provided insight into how companies can benefit by complying with stormwater plans, diligent recordkeeping, and working collaboratively with the DEQ.
