Tonkon Torp Launches Blog Aimed at Region’s Development Community

Tonkon Torp has launched Ear to the Ground, a blog to share relevant and timely insight into real estate, energy law, water law, and environmental issues with development professionals and business owners in the Northwest region.

Three attorneys will rotate as authors. Each will deliver useful information for a different aspect of development through a unique lens and voice honed by each author’s individual professional experiences.

  • David Petersen chairs the firm’s Real Estate & Land Use Practice Group. He has a nose for interesting projects and legal developments to help readers stay on top of the development game.
  • Jeanette Schuster chairs the firm’s Environmental & Natural Resources Practice Group. She loves attending seminars, events, and activities that touch on hot topics and will report back to help readers stay one step ahead.
  • Jan Neuman is a former law professor and director of the Oregon Department of State Lands. Her ear is attuned to conversations about development issues that relate to water, climate change, and rural lands.

Petersen explains why the attorneys chose to stay away from a more traditional law blog voice: “We collectively keep our ears to the ground to learn what is going on in the different categories of development, and we want to be a resource for all people in the real estate development community, lawyers or not. We all have enough technical documents to work through every day, and we don’t want our blog to be another source to decipher. Our goal is to share information in a straightforward, fun, and easy-to-read manner.”
