Tonkon Torp Attorneys Speak to Startups at TiE Bootcamp

Attorneys from Tonkon Torp’s Entrepreneurial Services and Labor & Employment practice groups spoke to Oregon startups at the TiE Oregon Bootcamp on November 28.

Leon Simson provided insight into the basic decisions that all startups will face such as entity choice, corporate formation and funding issues. He also reviewed common issues encountered by multiple-founder entities.

Kristin Bremer Moore and Lindsay Reynolds provided an overview of the differences between Independent Contractors and employees. They reviewed the benefits and pitfalls of independent contractors, including laws and how to establish an independent contractor relationship.

During his presentation on developing intellectual property (IP) strategies, Eric Beach shared tips and practical advice on establishing and protecting assets that fall within the IP realm.
